Final Project: Strategic Plan Briefing Part II: Introduction and Steps in the Process which is due in Unit 6.

Instructions

Please complete the following components of the Final Project: Strategic Plan Briefing document:

Introduction (2–3 pages)

This section provides the purpose of the Strategic Plan B, explaining why it is of value or interest to a college or university and what information it will contain. This section should also include an analysis of why institutional researchers would be involved in creating background materials, such as a briefing document, and what methodologies instructional researchers use to support strategic planning. This section should be 2–3 pages.

Steps in the Process (3–4 pages)

Address the first steps in the Strategic Plan. This section should include the following:

  • For whom are you preparing the Strategic Plan Briefing document— President or Dean (choose one) — and who is the intended audience?
  • What are the mission, vision, and values of the institution? Where is it now and where does it want to go?
  • Who are the stakeholders and beneficiaries of the Strategic Plan?
  • What is the current environmental scan? Give an internal and external overview of the institution’s environment.
  • What are the goals of your Strategic Plan, and what strategies are to be implemented to achieve these goals?

Provide your answers in a 5 to 7 page Final Project template. Please make sure to justify your answers with support from the readings and additional resources you have located in the Library.

This Assignment addresses the following unit learning outcomes:

  • Identify common research methodologies and data analysis strategies used by institutional researchers.
  • Consider potential strategic planning applications that help to shape institutional research design and analysis.

It also addresses the following Course Outcomes:

HE513-2: Plan institutional research studies using a range of methodologies.

HE513-3: Produce reports on institutional research studies.

HE513-5: Analyze the relationship of institutional research to other administrative and strategic processes within higher education.
